I was born in Dublin in June, 1969. I grew up in Ireland, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In 1988 I went to art school in Ireland for a few years before moving to England to study photography. Then I found myself a staff photographer job at a news agency and was on my way.
In 1999 I attended the Documentary Photography & Photojournalism Program at the International Center of Photography in New York City. There I studied with the likes of Joan Liftin, Charles Harbutt, Jeff Jacobson, Joe Rodriguez, Mary Ellen Mark, Brian Young, amongst other photography luminaries. It was intense.
Shortly after that I became a stay-at-home-dad for a decade or so but continued to make work and self publish.
Clients and publications have included The New York Times Magazine, Guardian, Times and Sunday Times, Irish Times, Irish Independent, CNN, BBC, Court TV, Institute of Psychiatry, Press Association and CoStar Group UK along with various authors and musicians.
I have worked in news, documentary, editorial, street, interiors and architecture. I also make handcrafted photobooks and prints of my street photography work for a growing audience around the world.
